Walk-in showers without glass!

A major challenge with showers is maintaining cleanliness. Improved designs tackle this by removing doors and glass panels and reducing grout lines for easier upkeep. Less enclosed showers breathe better and minimize mold.

Curb-less Showers

Accessibility and Safety

  • Barrier-free entry: No threshold means easier access for people of all ages and mobility levels, including wheelchair users.
  • Reduced trip hazards: The seamless transition between bathroom and shower floor minimizes the risk of falls.
  • Inclusive design: Ideal for aging-in-place renovations or multi-generational households.

Easier Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Fewer nooks and crannies: With no curb and often fewer enclosure panels, there are fewer spots for grime to accumulate.
  • Large-format tiles: Common in curbless designs, these reduce grout lines and simplify cleaning.

 Sleek, Modern Aesthetic

  • Open-concept look: The continuous flooring creates a spacious, spa-like feel that enhances visual flow.
  • Design flexibility: Works well with various tile styles and layouts, and can be paired with minimalist glass panels or left fully open.

Considerations: While curbless showers offer many advantages, they do require precise installation to ensure proper drainage and waterproofing. Retrofitting may involve structural adjustments like recessing the subfloor or raising the surrounding bathroom floor.

Foot Supports: Shave Smooth, Stretch Smart

Foot supports aren’t just a convenience for leg shaving—they’re becoming a go-to tool for effective stretching routines. When used during or after a warm shower, they help target key muscle groups while the body is already warmed up, which enhances flexibility and reduces strain. It’s a smart way to combine self-care with wellness

Shower Seats and Corner Shelfs

  • Wall-mounted folding seats: Ideal for saving space and offering support when needed. Many are ADA-compliant and made of teak or plastic with metal brackets. Fold down seats solve several problems associated with permanent tile seats. Namely, they do not mold easily, they warm up quickly and they don’t take up space when not being used.
  • Freestanding shower stools: Lightweight and portable, often height-adjustable and designed for elderly or disabled users.
  • Built-in benches: Integrated into the shower structure, these offer a seamless look and can be tiled to match the shower walls. In addition to the disadvantages already mentioned above, we do not recommend built in shower benches because they add to the possibility of shower pan failure in the long term.
  • Corner seats: Space-efficient and great for smaller showers, available in tile or prefabricated options. We usually recommend quartz for corner seats.
  • Designer materials: Options include clear acrylic for a modern look, teak for warmth and durability, and phenolic slats for water resistance.
